Water safety

In the US and Canada, water safety tends to be a bit more limited of a discussion than other places, but you should know a few things.

  • If you are unsure about the safety of your water, I recommend buying a water filter you can put on your sink tap.
  • Many electrical devices cannot be used in water. Always check the label first before using it. As a general rule, any part that has to be plugged in cannot be used in water.
  • If there is a leak, clean it up immediately and turn off any faucets. Try to see if you can find the leak – you may be able to identify where it is based on where the water is flowing from. If you cannot find it, you may need to call a plumber.
    • If the water has leaked into the wall and starts bulging, call a plumber, as there may be a serious issue.
  • If your home floods, you will need to do special things to clean your home, including your kitchen. You can learn more from this site from the University of Minnesota.
